Directed by Linklater, and starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, it centres around the ongoing love story between two characters, Céline and Jesse.

Co-written by Linklater, Hawke and Delpy, the film picks up the story nine years after the events of Before Sunset, when Céline (Delpy) and Jesse (Hawke) are spending their summer vacation in Kardamili. Almost two decades have passed since their first meeting on that train bound for Vienna. On the last night of their idyllic Greek vacation, the longtime lovers reminisce about their lives together and what different choices might have brought.

The film was released in June 2013 and grossed over $20 million worldwide. As with the previous films of the trilogy, Before Midnight received widespread acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay.
